The Inspiration & Process...

Art has been my passion and Nature its muse for as long as I can remember.  They are both intrinsically woven together into the very fabric of my soul.  As an artist, I love reflecting the beautiful aesthetics of Nature onto canvas through a mix of mediums; pushing color boundaries, organic shapes, and abstract forms until, like a dream, its story emerges and the scenery appears.  My works rarely start with a concept drawing or real tangible scene. It typically begins with an abstract thought and a discovery of what that feeling or idea would look like if it were alive in color and gesture and mood. It is only when I am many layers into a painting that it's earth-like scapes emerge. (Often, the scape reveals itself only after I flip the canvas upside down at the end!) I would love to take credit and say that I strategically plan the paintings the way they turn out but I never do. It just kind of comes out of me and turns into what it wants to be, representing what it chooses. So each piece is truly unique, the invisible becoming real.
